PROVENANCE

The illustration is adapted from Elias Stark's etching Landschap met bomen, strand en zee (Landscape with Trees, Beach and Sea), 1886. The source impression, a trial proof on chine collé, is in the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam (RP-P-1888-A-14088, gift of E. Stark, Nieuwer-Amstel), via the museum's public-domain collection.
