A letter from the book
— FROM RED MAGIC —
Kisses trailed like wolves racing through the trees, like spirits madly searching for running water. Lips wandered with thirst, with curiosity. Was it the instinct to survive, my love, or was it wonder? What was it that led me to you, to the way you bend, to the way you cleanse this soul of mine? Tell me, love.

HOW IT WAS WRITTEN
Think of someone you love as the greatest force of nature on this Earth.
That's the exercise behind most of these letters. Not "describe them" — describe what they are once they've become part of your writing. A storm. A tide. A majestic, maybe even terrifying, force of nature.
Red Magic isn't written in stanzas. It's written as letters — short, unbroken, addressed to a single person.
I still teach this exercise because it reliably produces work I'd keep.
Try it yourself
Think of someone you love, or simply someone you care for or think about.
Think of them as the greatest force of nature on this Earth. What is that to you?
How do you describe that in the end? What do they become once they're part of your writing?

An honest review is the single most useful thing a reader can do for an independent author. It takes two minutes, and it is how the next reader finds the book.
