Love’s Cycle

Poems + Other Short Writings

Every love moves through the same three stages: the ache to be felt, the bliss of being known, and the grace it takes to let go. Love's Cycle is Pablo Camacho's debut collection of prose and poetry — the book where his voice as a poet began. Written in three parts, it follows love from first longing through blissful connection to the quiet acceptance of loss, blending raw vulnerability with unflinching honesty.

HOW THE BOOK IS BUILT

I need you. I have you. I lost you.

Three parts, one for each sentence a love story eventually says. Like the red paper on the cover, love often starts as a blank sheet and ends as something folded into a shape you can't undo.

PART I · I NEED YOU

The Reaching

Longing from across the room: counting the hours, almost holding hands, falling for someone who can't fall back.

Longing · patience · devotion

PART II · I HAVE YOU

The Grasping

Antique shops, late-night drives, freckles mapped like constellations. The whole wild middle of being in love.

Passion · wonder · home

PART III · I LOST YOU

The Letting Go

Airport terminals, sleepless nights, and the slow work of learning to breathe and speak again.

Absence · memory · healing

READ A SAMPLE

Three poems from the book

Some hearts heal in different ways. Poems for someone at every stage of love.

THE REACHING · IF ONLY…

If only you could see yourself
through my eyes.
If only you could feel your touch
the way my hands do.
If only you could see
your beautifully lazy eyes
trying not to fall asleep
in the front seat of my car.

You would love yourself
just as much as I'm afraid to admit
that I love you.

Oh God,
if only…

THE GRASPING · SUMMER LOVE

I swear, you're most beautiful
when you breathe and laugh,
not noticing that I
notice you.

I strongly believe
it was the golden sun itself
that freckled your skin
when you were born.

It was the ocean
and the sky
who both hid
in your eyes.

Oh, darling,
you are a painting.

THE LETTING GO · CLOSE, BUT FAR STILL

It's the powerful feeling
of stopping time
with a kiss that
keeps us coming back
for more.

Ironic,
isn't it?
I felt most alive
when you stole my breath,
when you touched
the very essence
of my soul and
swallowed me whole
into your lungs.

Now
we're close enough
to see the same moon and stars,
yet miles and miles apart.

Can I, darling,
pretend you think of me
as I think of you?
Because I think of you, still.

BEHIND THE BOOK

Where it all started

May you realize that, despite it all, these words were always meant for you, and only you.

Love's Cycle is my first book, written in secret while I was serving in the Marine Corps. You can hear the hour in some of the titles: "1:35 AM," "Insomnia," "Dusk," and "Dawn."

About half the book is short prose rather than verse: letters, confessions, a countdown. If you've only read my later collections, this is the rawest version of the voice you know. This is the only collection I am sometimes hesitant to share, only because of how unfiltered and honest it is.

I will be the cycle you cannot end, and you will be the habit I will not break.

From "The crashing of lands and seas," Part I.

About the author

Pablo Camacho

Pablo Camacho was born in Puerto Rico to a military family. At a very young age, he discovered his passion for writing. Love's Cycle is his first collection of poetry and short writings, born of his lifelong curiosity about the world and what it means to be human.

In the book, he explores the feelings of love and loss often experienced in early adulthood. In every poem, he hopes to paint a picture of the human condition and remind others that they are not alone in similar experiences.

★★★★★

“I have always thought that poetry must make you feel so many things, and these poems have achieved it; poems that, as always, have stolen my heart, left me breathless, made me reflect, and impressed me. But, above all, Pablo Camacho has managed to reach my soul.”
