About the book
The way back home is a love story.
Salvation follows the arc of a heart that was sure it was finished: the quiet after loss, the slow work of trusting again, and the unexpected moment someone new becomes worth the risk.
Written in simple, honest language with a lyrical edge, these poems remind us that even in our darkest moments, love's light is never fully extinguished. Whether you're mending from loss or celebrating a new relationship, Salvation speaks directly to the heart.
Written in English, with the same voice readers know from Bittersweet, and a companion to the Spanish-language Paraíso.
Inside this poetry collection, you'll find:
Emotional love poems, haikus, and short-form poetry exploring intimacy, vulnerability, and connection through vivid, evocative imagery
An honest look at how relationships transform us — from heartbreak to healing to hope
Themes of humility, sacrifice, grace, and gratitude woven throughout
A special author’s note on what it means to truly love

A moving poetry collection about heartbreak, healing, and the courage to love again — from Pablo Camacho, award-winning author of Bittersweet: Poems on Love, Loss & Wanderlust.
Finding salvation
I was a dying man
in need of water I could not find,
abandoned in a desert,
battling the nights and monsters
in my mind.
I was a hopeless man
in need of light,
yet the sun would not shine.
So, I begged and I prayed,
and in my last hour,
everything aligned.
You arrived so gracefully,
like a beautiful mirage,
a myth,
so well-timed
that I could not believe it
to be true.
What have I done to deserve salvation?
What have I done for God to bless me?
What have I done to deserve you?
Fate
I knew you were meant for me
when you told me what your name meant;
such a beautiful thing
that I knew it could not be a coincidence
that “Sotiria” meant salvation.
Seconds till midnight
I turn to you before the light dims
and its final spark rests till morning.
One last glance I beg for,
one second to memorize your tired smile
and the glow that hovers over you
before we sleep.
“I love you” does not encompass
all I wish to say, all I feel,
and all I hope to dream.
You shy away, a little laugh
to let me know it is time
the reading lamp goes off,
and your body presses closer.
An eternity would not be enough
to see all I want to see,
but one second before we sleep
is enough for me to find you still
when I close my eyes
and to be with you still
when I dream.
