PROVENANCE

The illustration is adapted from Caspar Luyken's etching Jakob kust Rachel bij de bron (Jacob Kisses Rachel at the Well), 1712, made for Jan Luyken's illustrated Bible history De schriftuurlyke geschiedenissen en gelykenissen van het Oude en Nieuwe Verbond (Amsterdam, 1712). The source impression, a trial proof, is in the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam (RP-P-OB-45.785), via the museum's public-domain collection. It has been digitally adapted and rendered in sepia for this print. Poem © Pablo Camacho. Relic Nº 007 in the Relics series, Dawn collection.
