PROVENANCE

The illustration is adapted from Claude Mellan's engraving Full Moon (c. 1635–37), first state of two, one of the earliest detailed maps of the moon, made from telescope observations. The source impression is in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York (60.634.36, The Elisha Whittelsey Collection, The Elisha Whittelsey Fund, 1960), via the Met's public-domain collection. It has been digitally adapted and rendered in sepia for this print. Poem © Pablo Camacho. Relic Nº 009 in the Relics series, Midnight collection.
